So [ profile] rageprufrock asked for porny sex songs. It's possible that I went a little overboard, but still, who doesn't like hot sex songs?

Here's my mix, with a cover that is so, so NSFW )

Merlin = <3

Like seemingly everyone else in the known fandom universe, I too have fallen quite heavily for Merlin.

Their intertwined destiny! The absolutely epic slashiness of it all! Oh show!

Other things that are making me happy right now:

• T.I.'s new album Paper Trails , especially these three songs:

[ T.I feat Rihanna - Live Your Life ] -- mp3
[ T.I. - Whatever You Like ] -- mp3
[ T.I. feat. Justin Timberlake - Dead and Gone ] -- mp3

• Kanye West's new album 808s and Heartbreak:

[ Kanye - Heartless ] -- mp3

• Lil Wayne: uh, pretty much everything he touches, to my unending embarassment. Most recently:

[ Lil Wayne - Mrs. Officer ] -- mp3

• This entire season of Supernatural. Dear god. As soon as In the Beginning aired I just. It's all coming together this season, isn't it? And I'm loving every minute of it. I've even managed to recruit 3 new fans to both SPN and Battlestar Galactica. I've been telling my stupid friends about both of those shows for 3.5+ years and they've finally come over to the fan side. Vindication!

+ I'm actually not sure as many people on my flist posted about the 2004 presidential election as they have the lj election, but it worked: I voted with all 200 of my sockpupet journals, and have been disgusted by [ profile] jameth et al's lulzy anti-fandom campaign.

+ I had LASIK last week, it's pretty crazy to not have glasses on after wearing them from fourth grade until last week. My face feels empty! Still, it's pretty rad to have peripheral vision again, and to know that I'm not dependent on a breakable object if I want to see anything. In the interests of resting my eyes though, I've gotten into a new corner of fandom: [ profile] podslash and fanfic audio books, specifically. I had heard of the community before, but hadn't ever tried listening to any fanfic turned podcast before. It's so cool to hear it read aloud! Favorites include:

+ I'm also proving to be a sucker for a great many of the current pop/r&b hits and in the interests of sharing the love, have uploaded a zip file of many of them. [ download ] -- zip, 219mb, 36 songs all 224kpbs

Highlights include: Chris Brown, DJ Felli Fel, Gnarls Barkley, Jane Jackson, Jordin Sparks, Leona Lewis Lil Mama, Madonna, Mariah, Natasha Bedingfield, Nelly, Rihnanna, and Usher. Enjoy!

On file sharing:
Drop a comment here to be added to my uploads filter. If you're looking for media all of my past posts are organized by fandom in the tags list to your right. I usually remove the links from those posts every two weeks or so but with the exeption of some tv shows I usually have the files saved on my harddrive so if you've missed it let me know and I'll re-upload it.

Also, consider this post to be a suggestion box/request list, if there are any mp3s or files or whatever else that you think I might have, feel free to ask and I'll try to find it for you.

On Webhosts:
I switched over to Dreamhost for webhosting and not only are they really responsive, they let their customers give out promo codes with discounts. So if any of you are looking for webhosting they're offering a years hosting with 23.2GB disk space and 960GB of bandwidth per month for $22.50 for the whole year. Just use the promo code: KILLERSTAR when you checkout, and make sure you've chosen the yearly payment plan. Fucking awesome, no?

Comic Con!

I'm exhausted from this past couple weeks (short version: gave notice at my job and celebrated my last day on Wednesday, lost my debit card on friday right before heading to the airport, flew to San Diego for Comic Con, have had 3 hours of sleep/night for past 3 nights.) But I kinda figured, what better way to celebrate my current unemployment with a trip to San Diego and the chance to geek out over comics, Warren Ellis, and Winchesters, than venturing down to San Diego for Comic Con?

I was able to get a primo front and center seat for the Supernatural panel by sitting through an intriguing Q&A session with Laurell K Hamilton (whose books I have never read and man is she intense!) and an absolutely hilarious Family Guy panel (Seth MacFarlane et al. are adorable and v. v. funny, now I can't wait for the new season to start.)

My photos from the Supernatural panel are up on flickr here.

My highlights from the panel: (possible spoilers, absolutely nothing specific)  )

In short: Jensen is a very, very pretty man. I was bummed that Jared didn't make it (he was filming SPN until 6am the night day before and missed his flight) Kripke and the writers all rock hardcore. I love how dedicated they are to producing quality tv each week and how all of them are just super excited about where the show is going in the coming seasons. It's pretty clear that they all love their jobs and the show, and it's pretty awesome that they've been picking up such awesome writers (like Ben who started writing in Season 2 and said that he fell in love with the show during season 1.)

Also: I shook Warren Ellis' hand! eeee!

Oops! I meant to post this to [ profile] anti_recs my recs lj, but while I'm at it: hello y'all! [ profile] spn_j2_bigbang has really helped spark my fannish flames as it were and I'm hoping to make my way back to being more active on lj :D I have an insane backlog of recs to catch up on, most of these stories are relatively new, but some may be older. I'll hopefully be posting more regularly soon.

In that spirit: have some recs! )

sometimes I even amaze myself

In my entire life I can't think of a single thing I've done where I've been instantly good at it without some sort of effort involved. Until yesterday when I found out that I am, apparently, an awesome marks(wo)man. I went to a shooting range with 3 friends, picked up my very first gun ever, and outshot all three of them (and most of the other shooters at the range.)

How incredibly rad is that? I have always liked the idea of guns, seen the appeal and all that (Hello, John Sheppard.) So it was pretty brilliant to find out that my theoretical appreciation of target shooting may really turn out to be an applied appreciation for it.

I am curious though, I know a good amount of time has been spent admiring Sheppard's thigh holsters and the like, but do any of you ever go shooting? If so what kind of guns do you use and/or own?

For posterity, I totally took cell phone pictures of one of my targets and have been showing my friends all weekend. This one was a .22 but I also shot a Glock 9mm and a .38 Special revolver all of which were pretty fun, next time I'm going to try out a .44 and a couple other 9mm brands.

This is what my target looked like at the end. Out of 23 shots all 23 hit the target somewhere within points range, and all but 1 hit in the 9 and 10 point range. I beleive this was my first target of the day.

I find myself in the weird position of feeling like I have one foot in the proverbial fandom door and one out. I think it's been about a month and a half since I last posted and I almost feel like I have too much to say now that it's been so long. My life has been incredibly hectic and over the past month and a half I've moved, changed jobs twice, and am thinking about moving again. I wish I could say that all of the business has been good and productive, but I don't really think it has.

I made arrangements, before my trip to Europe, to move in with a friend of mine. He is recently divorced and has two kids who would be there part time. Unfortunately, when I returned, him and his two part time kids turned into him, his two kids, his manipulative girlfriend and her horrid, obnoxious, demon spawn of a child. If they were out of the picture, I think the roommate situation would be perfectly fine, but it's not and I've only been here for a month.

The brighter side of my life right now is my new job. I actually have a real, full time, adult job with benefits and a retirement fund and all sorts of crazy stuff. I'm the event planner at a really fantastic local non-profit with an annual operating budget of over 2.5 million dollars (!!!) I still can't believe they hired me. It's not my long time career goal but it is pretty much my pre-grad school dream job and it's going to look fabulous on any resumé.

In an effort to feel a little more involved with fandom, I'd like to invite all of you to give me your contact info so I can send you holiday cards. I've been wonderfully domestic of late, with lots of baking, cooking, and sewing projects and while I doubt I'll make my own cards from scratch this year, I do have some pretty awesome cards to send out and I'd love to share.

[Poll #871462]

Oh hey, and, in completely random news, yesterday I posed naked for a photographer friend who is making a book of photos of naked dead zombies. His girlfriend did the makeup and I laid in a muddy drainage ditch under an old wooden bridge for an hour while they covered me in fake blood and dirt and took crime scene style photos. It was the awesomest.
