Book Quiz Meme
ok, so I really try hard not to post quiz results but I think this is an interesting one because omgbooks! or, to quasi-intellectualize that, I love books and I read a TON of them. I swear have OCD about books, when I start one I cannot put it down until I have finished it. Often, this means I won't go to sleep. And I've actually been doing this my entire life. When I was little I would sneak a flashlight into my bedroom so that I could read at night past bedtime, hiding under the covers. And my parents used to get mad at me for reading! I have distinct memories of seeing Hooked on Phonics commercials when I was younger and it had all these parents complaining about how their kids hated reading books. I was very bitter at the sheer injustice of getting in trouble for reading while there was a national illiteracy crisis afoot. I was incredibly angry about that actually. I was a bitter, bitter child. Sometimes, I would pretend to be sick just so that I could stay home and read all day.
So, my quiz results:
I really love this result because Kurt Vonnegut Jr. is my hero. I've read virtually every book he's written. He's a genius man, there's no just no words to describe my love for him. He's hilarious, and snarky, and incredibly smart, and he slips these fabulous political jabs into his stories, and I just love the parallels he draws from his imagined worlds to ours. Like both Orwell and Huxley, Vonnegut is an amazing political and science fiction writer. I mean honestly. The man is brilliant. He writes these brilliant prefaces to his books. He starts his preface to Welcome to the Monkey House with this:
So, my quiz results:

You're Cat's Cradle!
by Kurt Vonnegut
You believe quite firmly that free will deserted you long ago and far
away. As a result, it's hard to take responsibility for anything. Even though you show
great potential as a leader of a small 3rd world country, the choices are all made ahead
of time. You're rather fond of games involving string. Your fear of nuclear weaponry is
trumped only by your fear of ice.

Here it is, a retrospective exhibition of the shorter works of Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.--and Vonnegut is still very much with us, and I am still very much Vonnegut. Somewhere in Germany is a stream called the Vonne. That is the source of my curious name.
I have been a writer since 1949. I am self-taught. I have no theories about writing that might help others. When I write I simply become what I seemingly must become. I am six feet two and weigh nearly two hundred pounds and am badly coordinated, except when I swim. All that borrowed meat does the writing.
In the water I am beautiful.

Exactly! The man is a creative genius, he's one of the most innovative writers of our time. I love him to pieces. Oh man, Vonnegut makes me so happy.
