veronica mars drabble, complaining

You know what sucks? Going through 4 and a half gigabytes of bandwidth when only two people comment to tell me they've downloaded something. That sucks. And you know, I'm not the queen of the universe and I can't command people to comment, and I made the entry public so blah blah blah it's all my fault I shouldn't expect it but DUDE. How hard is it to click a few buttons and type a few words out? Not very! Hmph.

[livejournal.com profile] scribblinlenore and [livejournal.com profile] fairy_tale_echo issued a drabble challenge for the newest Veronica Mars

He peals out so fast, Logan thinks his tires might actually be coming off on the pavement. All that matters is getting there. Until he realizes that he doesn't know where the fuck he should be once he's at the motel. The second story seems better strategically, and if that asshole's room is on the ground floor he'll jump off the fucking balcony before he let's another person in his life down. In the end, none of his thoughts matter because as soon as he sees Ben's hand clenched so tightly on Veronica's arm, he's all adrenaline and sheer instinct.

Well, I know some people pay by the gigabyte (or whatever), but I pay a flat rate for 25gigs/month. If I were to go over though, I'd a) get charged for it and b)my website would be down for the rest of the month. Luckily I almost never go over, and I'm not in danger of doing so this month either, it's more the principle of the matter. My site stats tell me that Onyx was downloaded 20 times, but only 2 people commented to tell me that they'd downloaded it.

And honestly, I don't mind sharing the files, I want people to be able to see the episodes, especially good ones like Onyx. It just frustrates me to not get any feedback for it when I know they're out there. But like I said, I'm not the queen of the internet, and I expect to have people not comment, it's just not usually so many people.

Oh, I didn't mean anything by it, I just didn't understand what bandwidth is... But that is annoying that only a couple people commented :(

I guess it's like that thing where only 3 out of 100 people comment on fics?

So the bandwidth is more for the money you pay to the owners/supplies/whatever of your website? And not the actual internet? That makes sense- I was confused

I love your icon :) And is that Donnie Darko?

I know you didn't, my complaint is probably more towards people who aren't on my friendslist anyway, as most of the people who are comment regularly. I think it's a lot like fic feedback in that way, actually.

Bandwidth is (sorry I didn't explain this better the first time, and I'm probably not explaining this well this time either because it's still fuzzy to me a bit too) basically the amount (in file sizes) that your website transfers. When you share a 5mb file (about the size of most mp3s) that takes up an equal amount of bandwidth for each person who downloads that file. Essentially it's a measurement of internet use. When I upload a file and then other people download I pay for the amount of bandwidth tranfer that the file takes up. wiki explains it a little better.
