[I'm going to go vote early for California's special election. People in my home county put a measure on the ballot in favor of banning GMOs. You can read a little bit more of my thoughts on Genetically Modified Organisms here if you want to. I'll definitely be voting for that and against props 73-76, 78, and 80.Eyes - 1x10 - Investigator] -- avi, 351mb
The only one I really care strongly about is 73 which is the mandate to force teenage girls to tell their parents before getting abortions. I have, luckily, never been pregnant. If the opposite were true I would, without question, get an abortion. I don't like children much. I know I would make a horrible, impatient mother. I cannot imagine disrupting my life with a pregnancy. I would also never, ever tell my parents. My family doesn't talk about feelings or personal matters. Ever. I get along with my parents on a very adult level. If I were to have gotten pregnant in high school I would have rather gotten a back-alley abortion than tell my parents. Because I am that stubborn and I would have been that desperate. I have no doubt that if this measure passes there will be thousands of girls like me desperate to not tell their parents, forced into choosing dangerous operations in unregulated unsafe conditions.
I have a violent, violent hatred for anyone who thinks that banning abortions or scaring people about pre-marital sex or banning condoms will stop people from having sex. It won't. What is will do is kill people, especially women. Apparently the conservative right is okay with that though, they are, after all, in favor of banning a vaccine that will actually prevent cervical cancer because it might encourage girls to have sex. I do not think it is possible for me to hate these people any more than I do. These policies are shortsighted, sexist, and there is absolutely no moral high ground to stand on when you're claiming to protect the sanctity of human life by enforcing policies that kill people. But maybe that doesn't matter because the people most likely to die from policies like this are sinners anyway, right?
huh. I hadn't really planned to say any of that. well, there you go.

JC Chasez and AJ McLean wearing the same shirt makes me smile like nothing else.
Stargate Atlantis has still over taken my brain. It occurs to me that I've been a little remiss in posting some media I've been meaning to share, some of it is SGA related and can I just say that the entire cast is tremendously funny? It seems like they picked a really solid crew for that show and all of them seem funny and happy to be there and I think that has a lot of bearing on the quality of the show. I have a ridiculous crush on both Joe Flanigan and David Hewlett.
So media. From

I saw A History of Violence finally when I was up in Portland visiting my sister. I liked it. It was, you know, definitely a Viggo movie, but interesting. The violence was so comic book-y that I was laughing a little and I've pretty much solidified my weird sister status with the giggle-snort while people's brains were leaking out of their heads thing. Then again I've always been fairly secure about my geek status so oh well.

When does the second part of the season start again?
Secondly, I ran out of bandwidth last month because some fucks took the links to the episodes of prison break I had hosted and posted them on a message board. That sucked. I post this stuff for you guys on lj who read my journal and I hate to think that I might have to friendslock because that's a big pain and I like my friending policy right now. If I do go friendlocked I'll probably move to reading and real life filters of some sort but that would annoy me because I like transparency and I read everyone I have friended right now and I don't like the idea of automatically friending people back without them knowing whether I'm just doing it to be nice or whether I'm reading their journal. Argh. All in all: obnoxious.
I'm not going to let this deter me from sharing the latest episodes of Eyes though, because I doubt a lot of people will be downloading it. Nvertheless, I guess I should say for the record that it's not okay to share the links with other people.
[And for the please please please let this be true category of today's post: Jude Law to join Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman for second motorbike adventure. Oh fuck would that be awesome.Eyes - 1x08 - Art] -- avi, 350mb

My goal for the month is to not freak out too much while I wait. One of my favorite methods for that is by watching way too much downloaded tv shows. Here's the two newest episodes of Prison Break. Please remember to right click and save-as and all that.
[ps. this is the most repetitive song ever. It's damned catchy though. Here you can listen to it too: [Prison Break - 1x06] -- avi, 350mb

And as long as I'm talking about music, my friend JP was dj-ing the other night and drunkenly gave me the mix cd of country music he'd made for the night but never got around to playing. And there's this son on there that I have googled to absolutely no end. I have no clue who sings it but I'm completely in love with it. It's so stylistically simple and kind of emo and I love the lyrics: when springtime comes I'll write you a letter about everything I love/we'll stay up listening to records until we see the sun It's seriously the best emo-love song ever. You should download this one as well: [

And speaking of tv shows I'm loving, how about Kitchen Confidential? Will Tippen! And Xander! And a hot british guy (who has evidently been trained at both RADA and Oxford)! All on tv together every week! I only wish it was an hour show and not a half hour. Plus, there's already fic. You should all go check out

The Warfield the show was awesome. They played really well and their little accents! were so cute! I really miss England. A lot. Can I go back now?
So the show rocked. But I'm incredibly sore from, get this: bowling. I went bowling wednesday night and I'm really honestly sore from it. The upside: I very nearly broke 100 on my last game. I am so going to get better at this bowling thing.
Other things that are of the good: Neil Gaiman is coming to a bookstore my friend works at next week! I am going to meet Neil Gaiman! And make him sign my copy of Marvel 1602! I am so geekily excited!

Anyway here's the third episode. I guess a couple people had issues downloading the first two and it's possible that it's some sort of freaky firefox issue. So if you're having a problem downloading, I suggest trying it in (oh man I hate to even say this) Internet Explorer. Either way let me know if it works or not.
