Here's episode 10 of Eyes, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] adelate for pointing out a working torrent for it :D

I'm going to go vote early for California's special election. People in my home county put a measure on the ballot in favor of banning GMOs. You can read a little bit more of my thoughts on Genetically Modified Organisms here if you want to. I'll definitely be voting for that and against props 73-76, 78, and 80.

The only one I really care strongly about is 73 which is the mandate to force teenage girls to tell their parents before getting abortions. I have, luckily, never been pregnant. If the opposite were true I would, without question, get an abortion. I don't like children much. I know I would make a horrible, impatient mother. I cannot imagine disrupting my life with a pregnancy. I would also never, ever tell my parents. My family doesn't talk about feelings or personal matters. Ever. I get along with my parents on a very adult level. If I were to have gotten pregnant in high school I would have rather gotten a back-alley abortion than tell my parents. Because I am that stubborn and I would have been that desperate. I have no doubt that if this measure passes there will be thousands of girls like me desperate to not tell their parents, forced into choosing dangerous operations in unregulated unsafe conditions.

I have a violent, violent hatred for anyone who thinks that banning abortions or scaring people about pre-marital sex or banning condoms will stop people from having sex. It won't. What is will do is kill people, especially women. Apparently the conservative right is okay with that though, they are, after all, in favor of banning a vaccine that will actually prevent cervical cancer because it might encourage girls to have sex. I do not think it is possible for me to hate these people any more than I do. These policies are shortsighted, sexist, and there is absolutely no moral high ground to stand on when you're claiming to protect the sanctity of human life by enforcing policies that kill people. But maybe that doesn't matter because the people most likely to die from policies like this are sinners anyway, right?

huh. I hadn't really planned to say any of that. well, there you go.

on having the flu, sga, eyes

I've spent the last week being dreadfully sick. I'm blaming Alaska Airlines because I got sick the day after flying with them on a 4 hours delayed flight back from Portland. At least PDX had free wireless which is more than I can say for Oakland's airport. I think the possibly-a-flu is pretty much gone now, although my nose is still running and I took some sudafed and it dried my sinuses to the point where I got a ten minute long nose-bleed and almost passed out from the blood. I felt like I was channeling Rodney McKay for a while there but I think it's passed now.

JC Chasez and AJ McLean wearing the same shirt makes me smile like nothing else.

Stargate Atlantis has still over taken my brain. It occurs to me that I've been a little remiss in posting some media I've been meaning to share, some of it is SGA related and can I just say that the entire cast is tremendously funny? It seems like they picked a really solid crew for that show and all of them seem funny and happy to be there and I think that has a lot of bearing on the quality of the show. I have a ridiculous crush on both Joe Flanigan and David Hewlett.

So media. From [livejournal.com profile] charlidos here are some clips from the Season 1 dvd, behind the scenes stuff with the cast, director, and writing staff.

I'm not sure whether the numbering for the file is off or what but torrentspy went from episode 9 to episode 11 of Eyes and I can't find 10. Here's 11 though :D

I saw A History of Violence finally when I was up in Portland visiting my sister. I liked it. It was, you know, definitely a Viggo movie, but interesting. The violence was so comic book-y that I was laughing a little and I've pretty much solidified my weird sister status with the giggle-snort while people's brains were leaking out of their heads thing. Then again I've always been fairly secure about my geek status so oh well.

stargate atlantis is really really evil

An reenactment of the past 4 days: my brain goes: no new fandoms! and then [livejournal.com profile] astolat writes: hot men sleeping in tents together and cuddling and then my brain goes: . . . no new fandoms!!! but maybe you can just read the fic right? 4 days later and I've downloaded all of season 1 and all but 2 episodes of the first half of season 2, read like, an entire bookshelf's worth of fic and added 3 SGA icons to the bunch. In summation: I am fucked. So very, very fucked. Also? Joe Flanigan is possibly the sexiest man on the planet as far as I'm concerned. Seriously, the guy is the absolute epitome of everything I find attractive in a man. Right down to his baffled expressions, his fluffy hair, and his hips. Especially his hips. It doesn't help that his last name is my middle name and I have like, an uncontrollable affinity for anyone even remotely Irish.

When does the second part of the season start again?

Secondly, I ran out of bandwidth last month because some fucks took the links to the episodes of prison break I had hosted and posted them on a message board. That sucked. I post this stuff for you guys on lj who read my journal and I hate to think that I might have to friendslock because that's a big pain and I like my friending policy right now. If I do go friendlocked I'll probably move to reading and real life filters of some sort but that would annoy me because I like transparency and I read everyone I have friended right now and I don't like the idea of automatically friending people back without them knowing whether I'm just doing it to be nice or whether I'm reading their journal. Argh. All in all: obnoxious.

I'm not going to let this deter me from sharing the latest episodes of Eyes though, because I doubt a lot of people will be downloading it. Nvertheless, I guess I should say for the record that it's not okay to share the links with other people.

And for the please please please let this be true category of today's post: Jude Law to join Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman for second motorbike adventure. Oh fuck would that be awesome.

prison break 1x06 and 1x07

So I think the LSAT went okay. Thank you all for your well wishes. I won't get the results back until October 24th, but here's hoping. Next step in the process: personal statements! Can you feel the joy? the excitement? I absolutely hate the process of writing personal statements. They are completely antithetical to everything I've ever written and I can't stand the way you're supposed to make yourself sound like the best person ever while still being humble and you know, not an ass. Also, this whole application process is making me ridiculously paranoid about my chances of getting into to law school. The only ones I want to go to are horribly exclusive! They might not want me!

My goal for the month is to not freak out too much while I wait. One of my favorite methods for that is by watching way too much downloaded tv shows. Here's the two newest episodes of Prison Break. Please remember to right click and save-as and all that.

ps. this is the most repetitive song ever. It's damned catchy though. Here you can listen to it too: [ The White Stripes - My Doorbell ]

And as long as I'm talking about music, my friend JP was dj-ing the other night and drunkenly gave me the mix cd of country music he'd made for the night but never got around to playing. And there's this son on there that I have googled to absolutely no end. I have no clue who sings it but I'm completely in love with it. It's so stylistically simple and kind of emo and I love the lyrics: when springtime comes I'll write you a letter about everything I love/we'll stay up listening to records until we see the sun It's seriously the best emo-love song ever. You should download this one as well: [ mysterious but awesome song ]

more eyes! and more viggo!

Veronica Mars last night slayed me! God that show is good. It's so nice to watch a show and just be happy with it, no exceptions, no doubts.

And speaking of tv shows I'm loving, how about Kitchen Confidential? Will Tippen! And Xander! And a hot british guy (who has evidently been trained at both RADA and Oxford)! All on tv together every week! I only wish it was an hour show and not a half hour. Plus, there's already fic. You should all go check out [livejournal.com profile] greg_the_fish for stories by the always fabulous [livejournal.com profile] hackthis, [livejournal.com profile] nifra_idril, and [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock.

For [livejournal.com profile] crownzeal (and everyone else interested, of course):

Can I just say that I love New Zealand? Some wonderful tv station over there has been airing the unaired episodes of Eyes. Last week we got 1x06 and 1x07 hit torrents yesterday, so here's that as well.

Someone bought me 2 months of paid time and lj didn't send me an email so I have no idea who it was or even if you said who it was, but thank you! I really appreciate the gift.

I saw Bloc Party last night at The Warfield the show was awesome. They played really well and their little accents! were so cute! I really miss England. A lot. Can I go back now?

So the show rocked. But I'm incredibly sore from, get this: bowling. I went bowling wednesday night and I'm really honestly sore from it. The upside: I very nearly broke 100 on my last game. I am so going to get better at this bowling thing.

Other things that are of the good: Neil Gaiman is coming to a bookstore my friend works at next week! I am going to meet Neil Gaiman! And make him sign my copy of Marvel 1602! I am so geekily excited!

Tv shows I have been meaning to post and forgetting (please right click and save as, and don't share the links):

And, to my gleeful surprise, it looks like the unaired episodes of Eyes might be making it to torrents slowly, I found the 6th episode just the other day so here's that as well:

So this show is simultaneously dumb and exciting. I'm blaming [livejournal.com profile] hackthis for my watching it in the first place, and I'm blaming Wentworth Miller for being really hot and keeping me here.

Anyway here's the third episode. I guess a couple people had issues downloading the first two and it's possible that it's some sort of freaky firefox issue. So if you're having a problem downloading, I suggest trying it in (oh man I hate to even say this) Internet Explorer. Either way let me know if it works or not.
