Artist: [livejournal.com profile] theantimodel
Final title: In Harm's Way
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Jensen/Jared
Summary: Dr. Jared Padalecki just wants to live a quiet life. There's only one problem: He's caught the attention of CIA Officer Jensen Ackles (a.k.a. Tom Delaney), who has discovered that Jared is the perfect man for the job. What is the job? Infiltrating the inner circle of Alain Laurent, terrorist banker extraordinaire, who's been in Jensen's sights for months, but always just out of reach. But as Jensen draws Jared into his web of deception, they both discover that in the game of espionage, all is not what it seems and that sometimes, being someone else can help you discover who you really are.

Sci-Fi and Spy AUs! And I got to read them FIRST! And trust me they are both amazing. I literally cannot wait until the whole world gets to read them.

- I have been bizarrely obsessed with the uncensored version of Justin Timberlake (and Adam Sandberg)'s Mother Lover. Seriously, there's something weirdly hot about Justin singing about fucking.

Sharing the Love: Mother Lover - mp3

- Supernatural season finale: OMG OMG OMG. Sam! Dean! I can't believe we have to wait until next fall!

Semi-related: my straight male friend who I watch SPN with every week was the first to call out how gay Dean and Castiel are for each other. I told him that was supposed to be my line, but he totally agrees that this is the best and gayest show ever. Oh show!

SONG MEME

1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload) 5 songs that begin with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

[personal profile] crookedhalo gave me the letter L (even typing that phrase gives me Sesame Street flashbacks!)

right click, save as

1. Lessons Learned From Rocky 1 to Rocky III - Cornershop
There's this one scene in the first season of Smallville where Lex is speeding down the road listening to this awesome song (bonus: Wogs Will Walk) and I hunted down the band and bought their album. Handcream For a Generation is my number one zoning out at work album. It's not too lyrically intensive, the songs flow together, and it's upbeat.

2. Lollipop (remix) - Lil Wayne ft. T-Pain
This is the sexiest remix. I was so so on the original version but this one is straight aural sex.

3. Look Out Young Son - Grand Ole Party
The best band no one's ever heard of. They're from San Diego and put on a damned good show. See them live!

4. Love and Sex and Magic - Ciara ft. Justin Timberlake
The first time I heard this song on the radio I knew it was Justin within the first 5 seconds just from the way he says "yeah".

5. L.A. - Christian Kane
This is the full version of the song Lindsey sings in Lorne's club in Angel. I was over the freaking moon the when I came across the full version.

So [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock asked for porny sex songs. It's possible that I went a little overboard, but still, who doesn't like hot sex songs?

Merlin = <3

Like seemingly everyone else in the known fandom universe, I too have fallen quite heavily for Merlin.

Their intertwined destiny! The absolutely epic slashiness of it all! Oh show!

Other things that are making me happy right now:

• T.I.'s new album Paper Trails , especially these three songs:

[ T.I feat Rihanna - Live Your Life ] -- mp3
[ T.I. - Whatever You Like ] -- mp3
[ T.I. feat. Justin Timberlake - Dead and Gone ] -- mp3

• Kanye West's new album 808s and Heartbreak:

[ Kanye - Heartless ] -- mp3

• Lil Wayne: uh, pretty much everything he touches, to my unending embarassment. Most recently:

[ Lil Wayne - Mrs. Officer ] -- mp3

• This entire season of Supernatural. Dear god. As soon as In the Beginning aired I just. It's all coming together this season, isn't it? And I'm loving every minute of it. I've even managed to recruit 3 new fans to both SPN and Battlestar Galactica. I've been telling my stupid friends about both of those shows for 3.5+ years and they've finally come over to the fan side. Vindication!

+ I'm actually not sure as many people on my flist posted about the 2004 presidential election as they have the lj election, but it worked: I voted with all 200 of my sockpupet journals, and have been disgusted by [livejournal.com profile] jameth et al's lulzy anti-fandom campaign.

+ I had LASIK last week, it's pretty crazy to not have glasses on after wearing them from fourth grade until last week. My face feels empty! Still, it's pretty rad to have peripheral vision again, and to know that I'm not dependent on a breakable object if I want to see anything. In the interests of resting my eyes though, I've gotten into a new corner of fandom: [livejournal.com profile] podslash and fanfic audio books, specifically. I had heard of the community before, but hadn't ever tried listening to any fanfic turned podcast before. It's so cool to hear it read aloud! Favorites include:

+ I'm also proving to be a sucker for a great many of the current pop/r&b hits and in the interests of sharing the love, have uploaded a zip file of many of them. [ download ] -- zip, 219mb, 36 songs all 224kpbs

Highlights include: Chris Brown, DJ Felli Fel, Gnarls Barkley, Jane Jackson, Jordin Sparks, Leona Lewis Lil Mama, Madonna, Mariah, Natasha Bedingfield, Nelly, Rihnanna, and Usher. Enjoy!

catching up on a billion things

cali: (falling asleep at the wheel)
Things I have noticed:

  • If you don't actually know the end score of the game, watching the Mavs play the Heat in game 6 of the NBA finals is just as tense as watching it live. I was totally yelling at them pretty much the whole game. omg.

  • I would like to party with Christian Kane. Yes, I would. It sounds like fun: [ mp3 of the house rules thanks Kassie! ]

  • My friends find it bizarre that I like basketball. I am still trying to figure out how I will be able to convince them to go watch Golden State Warriors games next season.

  • My personal corner of fandom has pretty much slowed to a well, a really slow thing, during all of this MsScribe stuff. Personally, I was active on fandom_wank back in those days (mostly due to a pretty strong sense of cynicism about my only active fandom at the time, Harry Potter) so I remember pretty much all of the events discussed in the saga. To find out that so many of the huge blowups in that fandom are waaaay more correlated than anyone would ever have imagined is sort of horrifically awe inspiring.

And on a more personal note: I'd be lying if I didn't say that I, at one point, wished I was a bnf. I imagine that most fandom newbs wish for that. But good lord, cliquishness, in most forms is not pretty, nor are the lengths msscribe went to in order to be part of that. I can also admit that when I was in junior high I helped to ostracize a girl simply because she shared a first name with one of my friends. It was a stupid, horrible thing to do and it is such a perfect example of how mobbish and vicious teenage girls can be. I only wish that that sort of behaviour was limited to teenage girls who don't know of any better ways to get out their aggression than skullduggery and name-smearing. What a shame that so many supposed adults engage in the same petty vindictive behaviour all over fandom all the time. I would love to think that we will all learn from this, and learn how to better assess our cliquish persuasions, but I doubt people really will. For me, that's always been one thing that sucks big time about fandom.

  • In my first attempt at gardening since I was a little kid and my best friend's mom taught me some stuff (and my best friend made me lick a snail because I didn't want to look like a girly girl in front of my male bff) I have discovered that I still do not like bugs, and that I grow easily frustrated by gardening difficulties.

I have planted so far: 6 planter boxes and pots of mixed flowers, 2 tomato plants, a cucumber, a zuchinni, and a crookneck squash. I have seeds for carrots and beets and plans for a raised box of lettuce, spinach, basil, and other herby salady things. It was quite disheartening to go check on my little vegetable plantlets this morning only to find holes, HOLES! in some of the leaves. I really do not like bugs at all. They might kill my plants before I can eat them! This is highly distressing!

  • In looking for the link to this engadget post, which made me bust out laughing in the middle of my quiet office this morning, I was reminded by [livejournal.com profile] unholyglee's Jack Daniel's icon that I had wanted to post this mp3 by a Santa Cruz county/bluegrass/I don't know band called DevilMakesThree which is, essentially, the best ode to Jack Daniel's ever. [ DevilMakesThree - Old No. 7 ]

PS. I I owe people anything, replies, media, music, comments, or anything else, please let me know, as am afraid I might have fallen behind on a ton of things lately.

PPS. Run DMC's greatest hits, anyone? [ zip file, 65mb ]

  • I'd like to add in a (semi) regular reminder to new and old friends that I have a downloads filter (somewhat inactive of late) and if you'd like to be on it please leave a comment over here in this entry.

  • I've been really, really bored with my own music lately, too. Things I have a hankering for: oh god, anything! Seriously, anything, what are you guys listening to on repeat all the time right now? I'm just not really into anything I've got already. Send me stuff!

  • I love John Stewart a whole bunch. He takes on Reagan's Secretary for Education and talks about the gay marriage debate. "Divorce is not caused because 50% of all marriages end in gayness" omg. *hearts*

  • I have been putting off on posting about this because none of the details are very certain, but they're getting more solid now, so. Attention friends in England: it looks like I will be coming for a visit in September/October. One of my friends is planning a two month trip around Europe and asked me to come with. As it stands now I'll be flying into Paris sometime on September 6th and traveling around with her until the 23rd when her boyfriend comes to visit. From there I'm on my own until October 11th. I'm planning on spending a week or so in Ireland with my family but I also want to hit up England as well. The dates would be sometime between September 23rd and October 11th. I'd love to see you guys if possible, so if any of you will be around, and would, perhaps be interested in hosting me for a day or two, do let me know. Alternatively, if you just want to see me and can't put me up, that's fine too!

In there interests of trying to figure out whether I should go to Ireland first or second, here's a poll:

I don't know why I find this ironic

So. Evidently, I'm like, allergic to the sun. The sun!

    omg.

I started taking low hormone birth control two months ago because I have ridiculously painful cramps and they totally took care of the cramps, I didn't even have to take advil last month! But uh. Evidently birth control can make you more photosensitive and my incredibly pale ass has become like, allergic, to uv rays or some such bullshit. Unfair, unfair!

In other news: I am lusting over these two pairs of shoes hardcore.

And lastly, some music for your Tuesday afternoon:

[ Stupid, Dumb, Hyphy ] -- because everyone should partake of the Yay Area's newest slang phenom.

[ Muse vs Britney Spears - Supermassive Black Hole/Do Something ] -- sometimes mashups hit everything right, this one does.

[ The Clash - Police on my Back ] -- like David Bowie, the Clash have a tendency to make everything better for me.

[ Hedwig and the Angry Inch - Wig in a Box ] -- one of my friends sang an acoustic cover of this the other week and it was awesome.

white belts: songs for the indie rock lifestyle cover

more art and the download link )

This is my last mix (I think.) The title comes from the oft mocked indie rock/hipster fashion trend of wearing white belts with dark jeans and having an ultra-cool haircut to go along with it. I'm kind of a hipster, but not to the point where I can't mock the hell out of everyone else who rocks the trends along with me.

About the songs: Sunday night is hipster night at a club I go to. It was organized by a couple of my friends and we all pitch in DJing each week. If I were going to dj, these are the bands I would play. All quality dancing songs with a pretty good mix of classic and more cutting edge songs. And it's a longer than my other mixes, clocking in at just about 2 hours even because I couldn't pare it down any further and, uh, it's a more authentic dj set this way because we do 2 hour sets.

    mix cds are addicting

[ The Getaway Mix - songs to rob a bank by ] -- zip file, 90mb

The title kind of speaks for itself but this is basically all of the songs I would want playing in the getaway car after I robbed a bank. Amped up power chords and fast beats with with some extra irony thrown in.

next up whenever I get the artwork done: white belts: songs for the indie rock lifestyle
