cali: (the city I love)
  • I'd like to add in a (semi) regular reminder to new and old friends that I have a downloads filter (somewhat inactive of late) and if you'd like to be on it please leave a comment over here in this entry.

  • I've been really, really bored with my own music lately, too. Things I have a hankering for: oh god, anything! Seriously, anything, what are you guys listening to on repeat all the time right now? I'm just not really into anything I've got already. Send me stuff!

  • I love John Stewart a whole bunch. He takes on Reagan's Secretary for Education and talks about the gay marriage debate. "Divorce is not caused because 50% of all marriages end in gayness" omg. *hearts*

  • I have been putting off on posting about this because none of the details are very certain, but they're getting more solid now, so. Attention friends in England: it looks like I will be coming for a visit in September/October. One of my friends is planning a two month trip around Europe and asked me to come with. As it stands now I'll be flying into Paris sometime on September 6th and traveling around with her until the 23rd when her boyfriend comes to visit. From there I'm on my own until October 11th. I'm planning on spending a week or so in Ireland with my family but I also want to hit up England as well. The dates would be sometime between September 23rd and October 11th. I'd love to see you guys if possible, so if any of you will be around, and would, perhaps be interested in hosting me for a day or two, do let me know. Alternatively, if you just want to see me and can't put me up, that's fine too!

In there interests of trying to figure out whether I should go to Ireland first or second, here's a poll:

I am so excited! I will definitely be keeping you updated when my plans get a little more settled, it would be totally awesome to meet you in person and hang out :D I've never been to essex either (although some girls I met at the Justin Timberlake club show I went to in London were tottaly mocking Essex and I wasn't really sure why.)

Ha. Essex has this 'reputation' that all the girls are dumb blondes who wear high heels and too-tight clothes and sleep with every guy who passes their way.

Damn, I wish this were true ;D

I've been really, really bored with my own music lately, too.

I'm feeling exactly the same right now. I'm bored to death of my own CDs, there's nothing good on the radio, and I'm mostly listening to Pandora, or playing the same three songs on my computer again and again. I'll upload you some songs as soon as possible; at the moment, yousendit seems to hate me.

To tide you over, a song I'm really fond of is "Tanglewood Tree", the soundtrack to my favorite Dead Zone vid, which you can download here, because I don't have it as an audio file.

Do you know Pandora? It's an internet radio station that selects music that's similar to your favorite songs. I love it madly.

Hah! Yousendit is no match to my evil powers of uploading!

... Well, I hope so, anyway. Let me know if these work.

I hope the following help a little with the boredom. I tried to make this a mixed bag, so fopefully there's something there that you like. I am really, really bad at sorting music into categories, so I guess you'll just have to download them and see.

I also have other songs from most of these artists, so if you really like any of them, tell me, and I can put up some more.

I still haven't managed to upload the CD with all my favorite songs to the computer, but I'll probably upload some of those, too, if I ever get around to that.

    Iron Maiden: The Mercenary

Like all Iron Maiden songs, this one starts out interesting, and then goes on for two minutes too long until it starts to become unbearably boring and repetitive. I recommend hitting forward in time.

Chris deBurgh: Snows of New York
My all-time favorite song, although part of that is that it's tied up with so many happy memories -- christmas, and the most amazing concert I've ever been to, and good things happening.

    Coolio: Gangster's Paradise

    Paul Gross: Robert Mackenzie

This one is from the Due South soundtrack. I pretty much loved all the music on the show, but this is my favorite song to one of my favorite episodes.

Apocalyptica: I have no idea what that song is called, actually. The boyfriend likes to describe it as "the one with the wailing", but then, he has no taste.

    Guano Apes: Innocent Greed

Gentle Arms of Eden, my current favorite. It's just so… bouncy, and makes me smile every time I hear it.

Do you want some more Iron Maiden? I've got, like, at least 16 of their songs.

Oh, and if you like Iron Maiden, you might also like Linkin Park?

I think someone gave me a couple Carbon Leaf songs a while ago, I lost them in my hard drive failure, but I really liked them. I will have to look for more of their stuff, thanks for the reminder!

    Alrighty! Here we go.

Jolene, sung by Dolly Parton. Borders on country, but isn't really. I am SO in love with this song, mostly because I first heard it watching an Atlantis music vid about McKay/Shepard, with McKay pleading with 'Jolene' (that Ancient priestess from Sanctuary) to not steal Shepard. LOVE! XD

Jolene version 2, by the White Stripes. The boys did a cover of the song, and it's just as good as the original, which doesn't happen often!

Livin' Next Door to Alice, sung by Smokie, who was a one hit wonder, I think. Kinda old school, but veeery catchy ^_^

Devil in Diguise, by Elvis. Because, really, who doesn't love Elvis?

Back to the House That Love Built, dunno who by. From the Desperado soundtrack, this is a great tune to kick back to.

Better Be Home Soon, by Crowded House. Kinda a gooby song, but it has a great melody.

Bohemian Like You, by Dandy Warholes. Because who doesn't like this song? It's SO catchy, but it's a real feel good one too ^_^ Get your groove on! *g*

Boulevard of Broken Dreams, by Green Day. One of my fav songs of theirs, I just love the sound of the music used in this song :)

Build Me Up Buttercup, by someone who I can't remember. Everyone knows this song though, and it's so much fun to sing along to! :D

Chocolate, by Kylie Monogue. I don't like much of Kylie's stuff, but for some reason, I quite like this one. I get it stuck in my head for days, and suprisingly, I don't feel like killing myself when it happens *g*

Don't Ask Me Why, by Billy Joel. I am not ashamed to admit that I like Billy Joel! This is one of my fav songs of his, so I thought I'd throw it in there ^_^

Dots on the Shells, by Mundaway Yunipingu. This is a truly awesome modern aboriginal song, and I love it lots. Really beautiful.

Gone Away, by the Offspring. Easily my fav song of theirs, this is gloriously melancholy punk rock at its best *g*

<a href="http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=DFAA04400BDB2C73>I Eat Dinner</a>, sung by Rufus Wainright and Dido. This song is so absolutely bizare, but it's sung so beautifully you really don't notice *g* Anyway, that should tide you over for a while - otherwise I'll be here all night! *g*

Caitlin, I'm at Mr.c588's on dial up, hence the comment here and not email. Do you know of any good mp3 download sites? Could be pay ones. I need one mp3 of Lou Reed -- and I cannot get it anywhere.

I don't actually. I pretty much rely on friends for mp3s and sometimes acquisistion, a peer to peer program for macs that doesn't have a very big selection. Sorry!
