I'm exhausted from this past couple weeks (short version: gave notice at my job and celebrated my last day on Wednesday, lost my debit card on friday right before heading to the airport, flew to San Diego for Comic Con, have had 3 hours of sleep/night for past 3 nights.) But I kinda figured, what better way to celebrate my current unemployment with a trip to San Diego and the chance to geek out over comics, Warren Ellis, and Winchesters, than venturing down to San Diego for Comic Con?
I was able to get a primo front and center seat for the Supernatural panel by sitting through an intriguing Q&A session with Laurell K Hamilton (whose books I have never read and man is she intense!) and an absolutely hilarious Family Guy panel (Seth MacFarlane et al. are adorable and v. v. funny, now I can't wait for the new season to start.)
My photos from the Supernatural panel are up on flickr here.
( My highlights from the panel: (possible spoilers, absolutely nothing specific) )
In short: Jensen is a very, very pretty man. I was bummed that Jared didn't make it (he was filming SPN until 6am thenight day before and missed his flight) Kripke and the writers all rock hardcore. I love how dedicated they are to producing quality tv each week and how all of them are just super excited about where the show is going in the coming seasons. It's pretty clear that they all love their jobs and the show, and it's pretty awesome that they've been picking up such awesome writers (like Ben who started writing in Season 2 and said that he fell in love with the show during season 1.)
Also: I shook Warren Ellis' hand! eeee!

Now that I have only one measly 3 page paper left of my college career (hah! until I go to grad school in a year and die from papercuts all over again) I have decided that I have time to do that photo meme where you guys give me three things to take pictures of and then I post them, because it's always terribly amusing. So yes. If you have any burning desires to see my bicycle or my book collection or my backyard (or other things that don't start with the letter B, even) now's your chance!
ps. listening to this song is making me think about how my friends all think it's hilarious that I know every word to practically every 2pac song ever.

I got a new tattoo on wednesday. It hurt like a motherfucker. But I am also of the opinion that I don't have any endorphins because all of my tattoos have hurt like hell. One of my friends came with me and was all "ooh ooh I want to go! I'll hold your hand! I'll be moral support!" But it was SUCH a lie. All she actually did was laugh at me along with my tattoo artist friend who thinks it's damned funny that I keep paying him to hurt me. My friends have no sympathy. None I tell you. Also? I can't wear shoes for a week.
In case anyone's wondering why the pi sign, it's because I was born on March 14th and in US dates that's 3/14 which are the first 3 digits of pi. Hence, pi day.

a further note: dude. california has had no fucking sun for the past 4 months. I am usually pale but not this much. please pretend that I am not breaking every single stereotype about sunny california and tanned blonde girls.

oh fuck. now I remember why I waited a year between my last tattoos. Ow.
it looks cool though.

The tattoo is, in case you're wondering a star holding a book with an ak-47 inside of it. It was the old logo for the infoshop/bookstore/community center thing I've mentioned before.

Okay, I give up. I'm blaming
wistfuljane for forcing me to do this implanting the idea in my head. An overview for the Star Wars RPS fandom. Please, please let me know if I should change anything. Add more people, links, facts. Also, if I've gotten anything wrong please let me know.
So, there are these movies that you've probably heard of: Star Wars. Hopefully you know that it's a series of 6 movies. There's the Original Trilogy (sometimes called the Classic Trilogy or the Imperial Trilogy):
( The Key Players )
( why are they slashy? )

Star Wars IV - A New Hope : Star Wars V - The Empire Strikes Back : Star Wars VI - Return of the JediAnd the Prequels (aka the Republic Trilogy):
Star Wars I - The Phantom Menace : Star Wars II - Attack of the Clones : Star Wars III - Revenge of the SithThe originals were made in the late 1970s and early 1980s while the prequels have only just been completed. Since this is an overview of the real people who starred in the films, I'll leave the movie explanations up to other people.

so very, very bored. have homework. am avoiding.
So lets play that fun game where you ask for songs and I try to find them. Pick a song (pick lots of songs!) something you've been looking for and can't find, something you think I might have, something you've been meaning to download and haven't yet, whatever. Alternatively, give me a genre/artist that you like and I'll upload some songs that I think you might like. Even better, send me songs! Upload something to yousendit (or your own webspace) anything, I like all sorts of music.
Earlier today was the Bay To Breakers run, I didn't get to go but people dress up crazy and run across the city. On my way back into town this afternoon I got a small glimpse of some of the costumes from checking out the people waiting for busses on 19th avenue. There were guys in drag, and people with giant hats, and men in capes. It was great. Today was intensely foggy, which, in San Francisco terms, officially means summertime is here. I don't think I've ever posted pictures of my apartment. ( So here are some of the apartment and the view. )

Bought Astonishing X-Men vol. 1 today, and eee! the nice comic book lady gave me a flier about Wondercon and Joss Whedon along with cast members of Serenity and Kevin Smith are going to be there! Dude I am so going. And two of my friends who love Firefly are going to come too, very exciting. You Northern California people should think about going!
I'm waiting for the Desperate Housewives torrent to be posted, in the mean time I'm downloading the pilot of Numb3rs, who knows if it's any good.
edie22 says that today is Tony Lucca's birthday, so a big happy birthday to him!
Orlando and Johnny Depp at the Golden Globes! So cool to see them chatting!

EDIT: to round out the geekery in this post: Mac users? If you haven't ever heard of Quicksilver you must go check it out, it's a launcher that allows you to open applications, webpages, files you name it using the keyboard. It's ten trillion times better than the Launcher that comes with 10.3, it's free, and it learns from the commands you use most often. Seriously, go check it out rightthissecond!
Along with Quicksilver you should also go download Windowshade for os x, it's a nify program that lets you customize your windows allowing you to minimize them as a bar (a la os 9), to the dock, make them transparent or, coolest of all: make a window stick to the front of the screen while still being able to use the windows behind it. Very useful for say, quicktime windows playing something in the forefront and browsing the internet in the background. It's a very cool program.
