so very, very bored. have homework. am avoiding.

So lets play that fun game where you ask for songs and I try to find them. Pick a song (pick lots of songs!) something you've been looking for and can't find, something you think I might have, something you've been meaning to download and haven't yet, whatever. Alternatively, give me a genre/artist that you like and I'll upload some songs that I think you might like. Even better, send me songs! Upload something to yousendit (or your own webspace) anything, I like all sorts of music.

Earlier today was the Bay To Breakers run, I didn't get to go but people dress up crazy and run across the city. On my way back into town this afternoon I got a small glimpse of some of the costumes from checking out the people waiting for busses on 19th avenue. There were guys in drag, and people with giant hats, and men in capes. It was great. Today was intensely foggy, which, in San Francisco terms, officially means summertime is here. I don't think I've ever posted pictures of my apartment. So here are some of the apartment and the view.

My living room, the couches are my roommates, the bookshelf, coffee table, and papasan chair are mine though.

the dining room area.

This is the other side of the living room. Through the doorway are the bedrooms and bathrooms. And to the right of the doorway (not pictured) is the my bookshelf from the 1st picture. The white bookshelf in this picture is my roommate's She reads lots of self help books, evidently.

A view from the living room windows. My apartment is on the 7th floor in the Sunset district of SF. If it were on the other side of the building the picture would be a whole lot cooler because you'd be able to see the ocean. Nevertheless, I love my view. The sun rises over the hill, so the apartment gets great sun during the day.

Both of these pictures were taken, appropriately, at sunset back in March.

The fog was so thick and low today that it's actually surrounding my building. This picture is from today around 4:30pm.

And this one was taken at 7:30pm. It's been foggy all day but it's even thicker now. How would you like to be living at the top of that hill in fog like this?

A) Love the pictures. What a gorgeous place to live. One of my calendars for this year is views from the Bay area. Just a beautiful place.

B) That Fun Game. My friend just introduced me to "Bond", a group that does techno versions of classical music, and if you can find some of that, that would be awesome. Otherwise, I'm on my laptop and it's new and bare of music, so if you want to send me ANY songs I should have on here, that would be great. I promise to reverse the game and send you music sometime tomorrow night in return, when I am back to my normal music collection.

first album: born
1. quixote. the vocals make it magic.
3. victory. GLEE.
5. kismet. it's very sweet. this was also used by some ice skating pair chinese couple in the olympics, i recognized it. and went SQUEE!
6. korobushko. this one is my favorite. it's like russian roulette on strings, how it gets faster and faster.
8. duel. i think bond is one cello, two violas, one violin? you can definitely hear the battle between the cello and one of the other three.
9. bella donna. a sad song, for balance.
13. victory remix. CAN YOU HANDLE IT?!!

hopefully i got those links right.

3: fuego. skipping songs 2 and 4 is just how the world works. *shrugs*
5: speed. one of the more techno-ish of the selections.
6: big love adagio. WHOA this is my favorite off this album.
7: kashmir. EPIC.
8: gypsy rhapsody. ohhh, i like this one lots, too.
9: libertango. really sexy.
13: bond on bond. the james bond theme. REALLY, CAN YOU HANDLE IT?!!

checked the cd booklet: first violin, second violin, viola, cello. so.

*jedi hand wave* now go buy their cd's.

Excuse me while I turn green with envy. Your view is absolutely beautiful! And you house is so ... clean. LOL.

*sneaks in and over turns a garbage can* :-)

Anywho, I've been looking for these 3 albums for a while. If you have then/can find them I'd be super happy.

Verve Remixed 3
Platinum Pied Pipers - Triple P
John Beltran (any of his albums)

Heh. I'm not nearly that clean normally, but my roommate is pretty clean so I make sure to keep the living room as clean as possible. I figure I should since it's a shared space.

I really love my view though, it's very San Francisco.

I don't have/couldn't get the full albums but this should get you started on the Platinum Pied Pipers album.

Thank you so much! Have you listened to "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover?" OMGSOGOOD.

Have I uploaded The Foreign Exchange's "Connected" for you? I don't remember. I've been meaning to share the album with your for a while. I really do think that you'll like it.

OK. Here is the Foreign Exchange album: Connected.

I would def say this this is in the Top 5 Albums EVAH cateogory in my mind. TFE consists of Phonte from Little Brother and this producer named Nicolay from the Netherlands. They meet on the OKPlayer messageboard and started trading music through AIM. Fast forward about and year and they've created a fantastic album together and literally never meet face to face once. Nicolay created the beats, Phonte and his people created the rhymes. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Their offical site is here and MTV's You Hear It First did a segment on them that you can find here.

The cover-art, which is beautiful can be found here.

Let me know what you think. I really hope that you like it, but if you don't that's cool too! :-)

Wow. I really like this. It's amazing that they did this all through the internet. Kinda reminds me of the postal service, they traded beats and vocals throug the mail. Connected is really chill, it'll make great driving music I think. I'm definitely going to play this for a couple of my friends. Thank so much for the rec, this is really really good.

Love the apartment.

As for music, I've really not been into anything I can't find lately. Care to rec some? Honestly, the only think I've looked for and can't find online is a version of the movie Velvet Goldmine, but I guess that's mainly because not many people are into it. Other than that...hmmm, my recs this week are for Johnny Lang's cd Long Time Coming, Athlete's Tourist album, and the Absolution album by Muse. Want any? Haven't heard of them? More than willing to share and spread the love.

I'd LOVE the Athlete album. As for recs, I'm kinda digging Bond which [livejournal.com profile] goebtimo linked to above. They're pretty good. Otherwise, hmm I'll search around and get back to you.

Okay I just decided to put iTunes on random and upload the first 10 songs it gave me. So here goes:

[ Bobby Brown - My Perogative ]
[ The Smiths - The Boy With the Thorn in His Side ]
[ Boys N Girls United - Messed Around ] written by JC Chasez!
[ Eva Cassidy - Time After Time ] from the Smallville soundtrack
[ Elvis Crespo and Gizelle D'Cole - Come Baby Come ] from the Center Stage soundtrack
[ Evan Olsen - Not What I Wanted ] huh, I don't think I've ever heard this one. not bad.
[ The Beatles - Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds ] honestly, not one of my favorite songs of theirs.
[ The Clash - Police and Thieves ] this one's from the Royal Tenenbaums soundtrack
[ Frou Frou - Holding Out for a Hero ] shrek 2 soundtrack. I like the original better but her voice is great isn't it?
[ Rockapella - Take On Me (cover) ] Oh man! Rockapella! awesome.
