I don't know why I find this ironic

So. Evidently, I'm like, allergic to the sun. The sun!

omg.

I started taking low hormone birth control two months ago because I have ridiculously painful cramps and they totally took care of the cramps, I didn't even have to take advil last month! But uh. Evidently birth control can make you more photosensitive and my incredibly pale ass has become like, allergic, to uv rays or some such bullshit. Unfair, unfair!

In other news: I am lusting over these two pairs of shoes hardcore.

And lastly, some music for your Tuesday afternoon:

[ Stupid, Dumb, Hyphy ] -- because everyone should partake of the Yay Area's newest slang phenom.

[ Muse vs Britney Spears - Supermassive Black Hole/Do Something ] -- sometimes mashups hit everything right, this one does.

[ The Clash - Police on my Back ] -- like David Bowie, the Clash have a tendency to make everything better for me.

[ Hedwig and the Angry Inch - Wig in a Box ] -- one of my friends sang an acoustic cover of this the other week and it was awesome.

I know! I might have to wear hats! I definitely have to wear super strong sunscreen, which I pretty much always did anyways but now if I don't I break into hives.

Cute choices! (shoes)*g*

I also have sun allergy -- had it since I had anti allergy treatment when I was about 22-23, not sure that it is connected, but it couldbe.
Since I often go to hte seaside and itching takes away much fun, I noticed that if I go to artificial sunbathing for couple of times (let's say 3 times 8 min) before season begins, the itching that develops after the salon visit is not bad, minimal, and when I'm exposed to the real sun the reaction is zero. If I don't do that -- once I forgot - it's not fun or pretty at all.

Oh interesting! I've always been afraid of tanning salons because I'm so quick to sunburn, but from everything I've been reading about sun allergies, you kind of have to train your skin into hardening to the sunlight so maybe I should look into it?

Well, frankly, consistent exposure to allergen is not good, I'm sure.
I'm not saying my method is healthy or wise.

However, I cannot resist the temptation to sunbathe on the seaside or next to the lake. The hives (?) from natural sun exposure are much more severe than those that I get from artificial. After that first reaction to the sun - natural or artificial - the allergic reaction is much less or does not reappear. It does happen if I don't take precaution and sunbathe recklessly for hours from the first day when I'm still as white as yoghurt. If I do it gradually, then I have no reaction.
My mom who also has sun allergy uses the same method. It's the only thing that helps her -- however, her allergy is much stronger and she gets little reaction every time from natural sun as well.

Also, I am not baked dried out cookie - I don't tan every week, 52 weeks per year, you know? The tanning salon is just to get that first hive (flashbacks to SGA, hehehe) wave.

Were you the slightest bit photosensitive before you started taking this particular birth control?

I vaguely remember reading an article about the "polar opposite" reaction to pheromones seen in women using birth control. (What the women would normally find 'unattractive' became 'attractive', but the effects went away when they stopped taking the birth control)
Uggg, I totally went off on a tangent. I hope this is all temporary. (No sun!?!? The horror!) Perhaps your allergies will go away if you tried something else?

I downloaded a few songs. Thank you!

I've always been incredibly quick to sunburn, like if I'm out in direct sunlight for more than 15 minutes without sunscreen on I'll burn. And I have a ton of freckles, but I've never broken out into hives in sunlight before this. It's super lame. I'm hoping it'll be one of those things I can train my skin into becoming hardened to and not an ongoing thing. If it persists I'm probably going to have to switch birth control but that sucks too, because they're all pretty awful. Our bodies are in such a delicate chemical balance already without us adding things like a mouthful of hormone pills every morning into the mix.

The Muse vs BS song is amazingly good. I never would have pictured that at all.

Allergic to the sun, eh? Wow. That sucks. And you're so pale already! You have my sympathy.

Well, damn. That might explain where my sudden sun allergy is coming from, too. Number 107 on the list of important things about the pill my doctor never bothered to mention. The things you learn on the internets...

Hope your allergy gets better soon!

I donloaded the clash song. Thanks!

Sorry about taking your link, I've deleted it.

I didn't mean to be rude.
I'm just completely clueless.
