sex scenes in fanfic

[livejournal.com profile] iamtheenemy made a list of 15 things she likes to read in a sex scene. I love this idea because we all seem to have wildly different kinks if the fic is anything to go by and I'm all about encouraging that kind of diversity *g* Here's my list (in no particular order, with recs when I can think of a fitting story):

1. Frottage: there's something unrepentingly sexy about two guys needing it so bad they just go for it skipping over the possibilities of oral sex and penetration because it might take too long or be too complicated. Especially when they don't even bother to take their clothes off. Honestly, the idea of like, 30 year old guys coming in their pants should not be as hot as it is.

[livejournal.com profile] shellah's Disturbing the Rythm and [livejournal.com profile] velvetglove's Max Ernst both Smallville, Clark/Lex are great illustrations of this principle.

2. Post-orgasm laughter. That little, half-laugh thing that you do after you've had a really intense orgasm and you're just coming down from? Right into the other person's neck? Yeah. That's hot. People should write that more.

3. Desperate first time stories where they didn't really know it would be as good as it is and the orgasm just hits way too early and very, very unexpectedly. I guess some guys might find the premature orgasm to be embarrassing but I think it should totally be looked at as a good reason to try the sex thing all over again. Also, there's nothing like embarrassment to spark a little competition.

4. Which is totally my next favorite: competitive sex. Two guys, each trying to one up the other with sexual favors? I totally love that.

A good example: [livejournal.com profile] mmchelle's The Package Stargate SG1, Jack/Daniel.
"So you want to blow me because it's what? Fair? Honorable? Gentlemanly?"

Daniel was trying to distract him and it wasn't going to work. There was a principle at stake here. "Yes. Now get on the bed and let me suck your dick," Jack ordered in his best 'don't argue with me, please' voice.
5. Angry sex. Hot, hard, up against a wall, quick, dirty, and desperate. [ omg someone remind me about stories like this I don't rec by keyword and cannot remember any of the hundreds of stories I've read involving this. ]

6. Quiet, sleepy, just woken up sex. It's the complete and polar opposite of angry!sex. I love the quiet intimacy of this, even if you've gone to sleep with someone, you probably wont take liberties with their bodies while they're asleep unless you know you'll be guaranteed of a good reaction. There's just something wonderfully enticing about half-asleep, no words needed sex.

[livejournal.com profile] flambeau's Call Soft Enough SGA, Sheppard/McKay is the perfect example of this.
He felt Rodney breathe against the back of his neck, warm and steady, and then soft little kisses along his hairline and on the first solid bump of his spine. Rodney pressed closer, and oh. Not about to go to sleep, then.
7. Slow build-ups that start with relatively innocent touching and end in really explosive first-time sex. I totally love that one small instant where the characters knows that maybe the touching is edging towards something neither of them have talked about before but they're too scared to start talking about it because then the touching might stop. That tiny step towards something new and scary and intense is what does it for me.

[livejournal.com profile] kylielee1000's Minnesota (Stargate SG1, Jack/Daniel) hits this note perfectly:
Daniel put his arms around Jack automatically, enveloping them both in the blanket, and a second later, he realized what he'd just done and panicked. He opened his mouth to say something, then shut it. He may never get this chance again, to hold Jack O'Neill in his arms. He was terrified that if he said anything, anything at all, even "Is this okay?", Jack would come to his senses and pull away. So Daniel sat, wrapped in the blanket, Jack between his legs and leaning against his chest, Daniel's arms around him. Daniel knew that Jack could probably feel his erection pressing against Jack's back. But Jack didn't say anything, and he didn't pull away. They simply sat there, quietly, with the sun behind them, casting brilliant light over the water. It was nice—calm, relaxing.
8. Gender-benders. Popslash totally started the trend with the JC and the Pussycats phenomenon and well, I'm a big sucker for the irony of girls writing about guys freaking out when they turn into girls. It's sort of the ultimate in ironic (non)punishments and every author has a different take on it but when you throw sex in the mix I'm pretty much always left incredibly jealous that whatever brand new girl got to have a multiple orgasm on the first try. But when there's sex like this in the offering, suspending my disbelief gets a lot easier [from [livejournal.com profile] lierdumoa's WIP Mutability (SGA: John/girl!Rodney)]:
And Rodney's legs fell open like a gift.

"Yes," John said, and bent his head, and went to work. Slow at first. His lips slid in soft against the wet folds between Rodney's legs. John teased over Rodney's clit with his teeth, not enough to hurt, just enough to let him feel it. Rodney's breathing hitched at the unexpected shock of sensation.
9. Masturbation. See: [livejournal.com profile] cimorene111's Instantaneous, SGA Sheppard/McKay.
He was trying to keep it slow, tightening at the base of his dick with each long stroke and twisting at the tip. It was good, God, it was incredible, and his fantasy of Rodney was incredibly vivid with so much recent sensory information, and he really--God--he really wanted Rodney. His stomach ached with wanting Rodney, his abs were warm, quivery jelly with it. John abandoned the pilot's chair scenario and moved around to the front, thought about pulling back the neck of Rodney's shirt, licking the hollow of his neck, shoving Rodney down in bed and straddling his hips and grinding against his belly, finally pushing that blue shirt up out of the way and--

I was all kinds of surprised when I started venturing out into other fandoms and found out that AUs and stories where wonderfully wacky thing happen aren't the norm
Oh dude, isn't it weird? [laughs] I love that popslash is on crack. :)))
