So I had like, 18 tabs open in my browser yesterday of stuff to read and fic to rec from the last couple of days and I had my computer plugged in at the infoshop I work at and one of the other volunteers needed the plug and instead of just closing my laptop and unplugging it he shut it down. *headdesk* So annoying! I had a bunch of projects open too!

It occurs to me that most of my posts lately have been locked, and the majority of them have been media posts. So I thought maybe I should take this time to remind everyone that I have a filter for uploaded media and if you're not on it (if you can't see this post you're not on it) and you want to be leave a comment here and I'll add you.

I've been working these last few days coding fic and working on websites for [livejournal.com profile] neery and [livejournal.com profile] stillane. And I'm all sorts of pleased with the outcome. So head over and check out the newly updated killerstar.net (and then tell me if you notice anything amiss because I've looked at it so much it all blurs.)

I had a dream about fandom this morning right before I woke up, except it wasn't so much a dream as a brainstorm while I was sleeping. Mostly it involved a plan to create an archive for fan vidders. Sort of like youtube for fen. With dreamhost's super cheap hosting plans with 20gigs of space and a terabyte of bandwidth every month I think it's totally doable and I'd be willing to work on it, but uh, it'd be a huge project and I know thismuch about webdesign. But it's such a shame that so many vidders have to use temporary sites like yousendit to host their vids and it's be awesome for fandom to have a resource like an archive for them. So. If anyone else thinks it's a good idea and wants to help? I'd be all for it.

Lastly, I'm going to upgrade from 10.3.9 to 10.4 in a little bit. My computer's been crashing applications left and right and making these horrid, horrid whirring noises like my hard drive is attempting to launch into space when I have more that 3 applications open so I'm hoping the clean install will help. With my ridiculous computer history though (2 fracked hard drives in 7 months! yay apple!) wish me luck.

eta [livejournal.com profile] anitac588 reminded me and I had meant to mention this: I'm going to be reccing Stargate SG-1 and SGA fic on Mondays for the rest of the month over at [livejournal.com profile] sg_recs. It's a new community and it looks really promising and you all should go add it to your friendspages because everyone needs a good recs community. Things to expect from me: SG-1, SGA, and crossover recs and media.

I know thismuch about web design but I do think it's a great idea and I'm definitely interested in chatting to see if it's something we could put together.

10.4 has been very stable for me and I love it! Here's hoping that things go well with the install.

I hope so too, I've got everything backed up on my external hard drive so it should be okay as long as my computer itself doesn't commit suicide *g*

omg your icon is sparkling! That rocks.

the site looks really good - I like the color schemes!

I think a fan vidder archive would be great. I don't know much about webdesign beyond the really basic stuff (and a little tiny bit about wordpress), but if I can do something to help, I'd be happy to. :)

I like really clean and simple designs for websites. I tend to really really hate busy sites so I definitely went for the more zen color schemes and layouts. I'm glad you like it *g*

Um--I know next to nothing about website design, but I can manage basics. Still, I'm available for like, logistical stuff if you ever want to bounce anything off me, and of course, I'll promote the hell out of it, if you'd like. :D I think it's a fantastic idea and thing to do.

Well, given that you are privy to my level of tech-savvy *cough* I can honestly say I will be no help whatsoever in the archiving department. I will, however, show up and say 'ooooo' a lot.

Been messing with the site this afternoon. I'm running a trial version of Dreamweaver until I can find something cheap/free that will do the job. I'm also finding it's kind of Zen to sit around playing with the graphics. Like a little cyber sand garden :>

Thank you again for the hosting, and all your coding efforts. My poor friends are getting tired of hearing things like, 'See, see! Look at the pretty!' The whole of the killerstar experience is very lovely.

Also, because I'm the type who has to peek behind all the doors: may I be included on the filter? You've got me curious now. :>

Hey man, your level can't be all that bad, the website looks great, I like the black and white theme a lot. I'm glad you're making yourself at home with the site :D

Are you on a windows computer or a mac? Because I've got a copy of dreamweaver for mac if that would help you.

Sadly, I'm on a PC; no unutterably user-friendly systems for me. *g* Thanks for the offer, though.

I saw you're a reccer for sg_recs! And on Mondays for that matter. Looking forward to week start, :-)!

Oh I'm so glad you reminded me! I had meant to pimp the community in my post and I totally forgot!
