sort of like a pity party but more fun

cali: (pity me)
Since I am on my mother's useless computer and I have no bookmarks of links for at least a week (more if my hard drive proves to be unrecoverable) I think you all should give me recs and links and stuff to do. So I want you all to tell me:

--your favorite time sucking online game.

--your favorite fanfic authors who you have read everything by.

--your top three stories that you read and go back to over and over.

Essentially, this is shameless begging. Rec me stories, lots of them! You know you want to.

Games--this site has all my favorites. I'm specially fond of Candy Train, because I'm apparently 4 really, but still. Insane Aquarium is pretty cool, too.

Stories--aaagh, I'm at work, I don't have my favorites list, but:
Torch's stuff, especially the Grapefruit one:
http://www.strangeplaces.net/torch/
Merry's:
http://www.trickster.org/anyroad/

Um. Crap, I have to go back to work, but: the following LJ users have sites that you can find by going to their LJ page, and they all rock: mickeym, jchalo, coreopsis, nopseud, silveryscrape, sinbrat, synecdochic, um, I'm missing people, but I really do have to go. Have fun!

Am on my way out, but if you're at all into interactive fiction/text-based adventures, and/or interested in exploring, go to this site, where you can play many of them online:

http://www.popcap.com -Insaniquarium is ADDICTIVE LIKE CRACK. Worse, even. (Bejeweled and Bookworm are cool, too. And Noah's Ark. ARGH! All my time, gone!)

Three stories I've read over and over. Um.

There's a Cordelia-centric Angel story called Teach Me To Hear The Mermaids Singing by "carleton97". I love this story so much. It's just perfect Cordelia and Angel friendship. I miss the snark!

Two LotRiPS fics I found relatively recently and that I love:
Plumbing by cupiscent. Hilarity and it actually turns out to be a story that pulls at your heartstrings a tiny bit at the end. (Whenever I read it, I have to listen to Love Song by The Cure after.)

Half-four by Shaenie. OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS STORY! It's hilarious, intriguing, and kinda sexy. whee! (It was written for the slashavalentine challenge - There are a few good stories to be found at that website.

and a story I haven't read over and over because I just found it yesterday is called Numbers by [livejournal.com profile] berne. It's Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean, and the story is breathtakingly gorgeous. I highly recommend it.

Authors I highly recommend are [livejournal.com profile] circe_tigana, [livejournal.com profile] zarahemla, [livejournal.com profile] jennyo and [livejournal.com profile] voleuse. They all write with a measure of quality, and they participate in various fandoms, so you're guaranteed to find something you like. (also, [livejournal.com profile] jennyo co-writes a new web serial called Division 16 that looks pretty cool. And no, I don't say that just because she's my homegirl.

You've prolly read all the fic lists and rec lists that I have stashed in my memories by now. :(

Hmm...games... I have had major time sucked by the games at msn.com. Bejewelled and Cubis and Collapse in particular. They're mind-numbing.

Time-wasters include AwfulPlasticSurgery.com (http://awfulplasticsurgery.com/) and the Singing Horses (http://download.consumptionjunction.com/multimedia/cj_15328.swf) page. I'd read everything by [livejournal.com profile] seeksasylum, archived here (http://www.geocities.com/kanbi_mitsukai/authors/seeksasylum.html) and here (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=seeksasylum).
