many things with not much in common:

+ Today is October 22, the National Day of Protest to Stop Police Brutality, Repression, and the Criminalization of a Generation. Since 1990 over 2,000 people in the US have been killed by law enforcement, this doesn't include the thousands more that have been victims of police brutality and mistreatment inside the prison system. I'd like to urge you all to check out Octobber22.org and the Stolen Lives Project.

+ In other news, I'm cleaning my kitchen because it's absolutely disgusting. Seriously, we have a dishwasher. If you're going to go to the trouble of putting your dishes in the sink isn't it just as easy to put them in the dishwasher? It's half a foot away from the sink. I swear to god I'm going to break down and strangle useless!roommate someday soon. The boy cooks eggs every morning, leaves the pan with egg bits on the stove when he's done, and leaves his dishes in the sink every. single. day. He doesn't even rinse them off in the sink he just puts them in there and then piles more on the next day. Hate hate hate hate hate it.

+ I pimped [livejournal.com profile] justpopemotion yesterday, and today I'm going to pimp the NSYNC mix I made for it. The entry is here, tell me what you think!

+ Random tv babbling:

Smallville: I've really liked the last two episodes. The flirting with Chloe and Bart was adorable, and I loved that bart was faster than Clark. The Frying Pan of Doomed Friendship annoys me, I'd love to see the writers do something else with Lex's character other than just reminding us weekly that his and Clarks One True Friendship is not meant to be. Hey guys thanks for the reminder, I hadn't realized that like, 70 episodes ago. Seriously, make him devious! make him switch bodies with someone! Have fun with him because Michael Rosenbaum is one of the better actors on the show and he's already showed his willingness to camp it up. I guess I'd just like a chance to see the friendship be Legendary instead of tense and mediocre.

Lost: I really like this show, the complexity and the creepiness are fabulous. I missed the beginning of this episode, who drowned? Was it anyone we know or just a background character? Last week's episode with Locke was brilliant, I was caught so off guard and Terry O'Quinn! I love him! Plus, dude, his name is John Locke how cool is that? I also realy love that I have no idea what's going to happen next, this is one of the few shows I've seen lately that actually keeps me guessing; it's quite impressive really.

+ Books: I've been reading Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials series. I'm borrowing them from the 8 year old I babysit. She read all three of them in like, a week and a half, I swear she's brilliant. As are the books. I've always loved the idea of multiple worlds/realities and these books are so complex! If you haven't read them and you're into fantasy/adventure type books I definitely recommend them.

Eep. LJ just hiccuped. I hope this doesn't post twice. Anyway,

His Dark Materials

Loved that trilogy! I remember it seemed to take forever for the last book to be published. I need to pull them out and re-read them soon.

Lost is sooo good. Terry's episode last week...wow.

And yeah, it was a background character.
