I forgot to bring my digital camera connector home for the weekend, but I've been taking lots of pictures of the new infospace we're opening. It's looking awesome, we've been tearing down walls and painting and all sorts of stuff, it's been really cool to get to take part in this sort of a project and seeing it all come together now has been fucking incredible. I'll try to put some pictures of the place up when I get my connector back on monday.

In other news: Sin City! Oh man, saw it last night at midnight and oh shit was it awesome. It's violent as fuck but so, so well made. The movie is just. GUH. If you really like comic books it's a wet dream come true. The cast was awesome, I love that they got so many insanely talented people to appear. Also? I want to have sex with Clive Owen. The man is gorgeous, his storyline was my favorite of them. Oh man the move is just completely badass.

Also? Anyone have any advice on resume/cv writing? For instance, how does one spell cv?

Lastly, I'd like to address a disparity I've noticed in my song recs. They're almost entirely male dominated and it bothers me. I just don't listen to all that many female singers, so if anyone has any favorite songs by women to share, I'd love to hear them. In them meantime, here are two of my favorite female led bands.

Ladytron is dance-y synth-pop at it's best. I love Helen Marnie's voice and the slightly underproduced sound on some of their songs.
[ Discotraxx ] [ He Took Her to a Movie ] [ Seventeen ] [ Evil ]
Le Tigre: god, I love Kathleen Hanna (of Bikini KIll). She's got an awesome voice and writes kick ass lyrics. Riotgrrl has never sounded better coming from her mouth. And the songs they've made as Le Tigre are just plain fun. They fuck with stereotypes and self-describe as "feminist pop" and just generally kick ass.
[ Fake French ] [ Deceptacon ] [ TKO ] [ Hot Topic ]

serif font, 12point, don't double space, don't use "I" since that's not very professional. if you want me to send you my resume just ask.

What kind of violence? Your action-flick/Arnold/Terminator violence, or purposeful-over-the-top/Kill Bil violence?

I can't wait to see it! Looks awesome. :)

definitely over the top kill bill style violence, but possibly even more comic book-y. It was very violent, but not gory visual becuase it was done in more of the comic book style where you see mayle the beginning of the action and the end but not neccessarily the action itself. A little more implied than shown (but still not really palatable if you're not into the genre).

Hmm, I'm explaining it badly, but it's good. Violent, but not offensive as much as funny.

How does it compare to the violence in Kill Bill? Same kind? More/less intense? More/less blood?

Because I loved Kill Bill and all of its over-the-top fight scenes, but so far every LJ review of SC I've seen has said "VERY VERY VIOLENT," and I'm just wondering what kind of violence.

Horror violence would turn me off, but I seem fine with action-movie violence, lol. ;)

I'd say it's a lot like the violence in Kill Bill. Except here's the thing, the violence in Kill Bill was too much for me and it wasn't in Sin City. I think in a lot of ways Kill Bill was more violently graphic while violence in Sin City is less graphic but possibly more over the top. It definitely wasn't enough to turn me off, and I don't like violence in movies much.

Thanks for the Le Tigre. I love them, but the only song I'd seen before was TKO. What album are the others from, do you know?

Deceptacon and Hot Topic are both from Le Tigre and Fake French is on Feminist Sweepstakes which is an awesome album. Le Tigre are awesome, I'm glad you like them too!

Ah, that explains it then. I only have This Island. I love that one so much, I think I about wore it out. I'll have to get the others now, too.
If you want a laugh, you can check out my Clex vid to "After Dark." It's totally crap, but I think it's still kinda funny. :D

Erm....I got a little (read terrifyingly) carried away with this so I've stuck me recs on my own joirnal to avoid spamming your comments section *g*

Btw, what hosting service are you using? Is it free? I ask because I'm hosting my stuff on my dad's server which has a pretty small pipe out, probably about 12k/s max.

I'm glad you liked them, Le Tigre is awesome.

I use fuitadnet they're dirt cheap and pretty reliable and have pretty quick download speeds. I've been with them for over a year and have only ever experienced like, 10 hours of downtime at the most. It's only $5/month for 25gb of bandwidth.
