Still can't access my memories, livejournal sucks ass. I also find it extremely annoying that Xjournal thinks "livejournal" is a spelling error (hey it thinks xjournal is bad too!). The lack of memories is far more disturbing though. I want my fic links back damnit!

Thanks to the ever-fabulous [ profile] ashlle1 I've spent the weekend watching House M.D. aka the fucking coolest show on tv. I've loved Hugh Laurie ever since Jeeves and Wooster so seeing him on tv again is the awesomest thing ever. I used to stay up late just sos that I could watch J&W back when it was on PBS. I remember that it was a huge deal because it ended like, two hours after my bedtime and it was on a school-night. Thank god for parents who appreciate fine tv, eh? I'm determined to get them to like House as well. Currently I have the first 10 episodes on my computer so I'm going to attempt to hook my comp up to my parents tv so they can watch.

I've decided to start a gang of Copy Edit Bandits it which there will be much correcting of spelling errors and punctuation mistakes. We're starting with all those horrible "PUNKS NOT DEAD" patches I saw last night at a show. It needs the apostrophe. I was thisclose to jumping a kid with my sharpie.

Along with the Boondocks obsession I've been trying to recreate the soundtrack. Evidently they never actually released one but I managed to download most of the songs. I don't know if any of you are interested but it's really a great soundtrack. I especially love the more traditional Irish songs, The Blood of Cuchulainn is gorgeous. I zipped up the mp3s if anyone wants them.

Yes! Yes! House is the absolute fashnizzleit, and HL is a golden god :-D I always found that J&W never quite equalled the books, but honestly, what could? Fry and Laurie were still brilliant in it. You're familiar with Blackadder, yes?

I agree it would have been impossible for the show to ever have equalled the books, Wodehouse was an amazing writer. Incidentally, you should really really read the J&W recs I linked here if you liked that show. I am not familiar with Blackadder but I did some googling and OMG how could I possibly have missed it? I'm sorely tempted to spend the money and buy the set sight unseen, but perhaps I'll try renting the series instead. Anything with Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Laurie, and Stephen Fry is pretty much guaranteed to be brilliantly funny. Huhgh Laurie is definitely one of the Great Comic Actors of Our Time, and it's really cool to see him in something like House which is serious and quite dry humoured at the same time.

Yes, I've read those, they're absolutely brilliant! Yuletide was my grail this (last) year, I was stunned by the quality of some of the stuff. [ profile] cimorene111 also has some more J&W recs here. She covers pretty much all that I've found so far, if you were having trouble finding more.

I cannot recommend Blackadder highly enough, seriously. Season 1 was good, but then Ben Elton joined the club and seasons 2, 3 and 4 contain some of the best of British comedy, ever, and really are the best things Atkinson has ever done. Laurie is in there from 2.6 onwards, and, of course, is gut-bustingly good. There are also tons of cameos by other British comedians if you're a fan. The specials done more recently, unfortunately, do not live up to the originals, so I'd recommend avoiding them until you've seen the rest. And for optimum Laurie enjoyment, get season 3 :-D I'm loving him in House so much. I love the way his face moves.

OMG I didn't even know there were more J&W stories out there, thank you! I'll definitely be renting the Blackadder series as soon as I get a chance, it sounds right up my alley.

There's also a fanfic archive and a [ profile] house_fic community. I'll be sure to keep up with the recs too, as soon as people start writing more of it. this could possibly be construed as a hint. it might actually be one too.
