dreaming of the apocalypse

I've been having a series of dreams about the apocalypse lately. Never the same apocalypse mind you, just ... apocalypses (and seriously what the hell is the plural of apocalypse?) I never remember my dreams so the fact that I've been remembering them at all is weird, but the fact that my subconscious has decided to play out multiple versions of the world ending in full sci-fi comic book glory is possibly a sign of something. I haven't figured out what it's a sign of yet, but maybe I will soon. Either way, this dream thing is damned cool.

I saw The Exorcism of Emily Rose last night. I liked it. I really like Laura Linney and since I went in knowing it wasn't really a horror movie so much as a legal drama/thriller thing with some horror elements I thought it was pretty cool. Also, I totally love weird Catholic shit. Like, pretty much any movie with a solid backing of Catholic mysticism will hook me.

Today I went shopping and got a whole lot of nothing. It was disappointing but good too, since I really can't afford to be spending money right now. School is going fine. I'm still waiting for half my books to be delivered because my campus bookstore ran out and I had to buy them online instead. That really sucks since the ones I couldn't buy were the ones we're supposed to be reading right now. Instead I'm reading a comic book called Preacher. I haven't gotten very far into it yet but I think I'm going to go take a bath and read it.

I'm really in the mood for a good long Harry/Snape or a Clark/Lex story (au or college fic for the clex) anyone have any recs? I'm just looking for something long and plotty and satisfying. In any fandom really. I want to get into firefly fanfic as well, probably Jayne/Simon, Mal/Jayne, or Mal/Simon. I've discovered that I sort of love Jayne. A lot. Recs of any sort would be smothered to death greatly appreciated.

Hee! I've had a few apocalyptic dreams. I was really fond of the one where after everyone else had died of some death disease, me and the last handful of survivors wound up fighting some giant skeleton monster of evil and death that srpung up from hell. O.o

I really want to see The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Am glad that people seem to like it -- I'm fond of demonic possession stories. Maybe I can convince my father to let me and my brother go see it tomorrow. *ponders*

Preacher is truly awesome. I loved it, myself. Can't help you with the recs, though, not my fandom. :/

!!! One of mine was about a disease too! Except I would up fighting off a group of boys who were all dressed up like the Lost Boys in Peter Pan except they had bows with arrows that would temporarily paralyse you. And I formed a rescue/fight squad with a group of people I went to high school with. It was weird. And kind of fun.

Well, yeah. We should make movies out of our dreams. I'd bet they'd sell... :D

Right after September 11, I had a lot of similar dreams, as well as dreams about my city being bombed or destroyed in some way. I guess you could say it's a sign of the times and the varying fears that we live with. Although, some would argue that we're almost a post-apocalyptic society now, or that there's no longer a fear of an apocalypse, because so many near-global disasters have occurred and the world has continued nonetheless. Anyway, I generally hate having freaky, vivid dreams like that, even though you seem to be academically interested in yours, so I hope that yours stop soon, unless you want them to continue. LOL.

Heh. Mine have been more on the sci-fi action-adventure side of the fence than scary, so I'm cool with the dreams for now. I'm just trying to figure out if they were inspired by the hurricane and my ever-increasing fear of earthquakes or the fact that I've been reading comic books and constantine fanfic lately. Maybe it's a little of both.

Big Damn Zombies, Sir by Shrift is good firefly fic. No pairing, just hilarity.

Things That Haunt Us by emungere, Mal/Simon. So long since I've read any fic, I have no idea what it is I'm reccing here. But it got put on my rec list when I first read it.

A Good Idea also by emungere.

Tetchy by debchan, Jayne/Simon.

I'm afraid I can't take too much credit for that bit of humor, they had a conversation about whether there is a plural of apocalypse on Buffy once and I've wondered it ever since :D
