So I had like, 18 tabs open in my browser yesterday of stuff to read and fic to rec from the last couple of days and I had my computer plugged in at the infoshop I work at and one of the other volunteers needed the plug and instead of just closing my laptop and unplugging it he shut it down. *headdesk* So annoying! I had a bunch of projects open too!

It occurs to me that most of my posts lately have been locked, and the majority of them have been media posts. So I thought maybe I should take this time to remind everyone that I have a filter for uploaded media and if you're not on it (if you can't see this post you're not on it) and you want to be leave a comment here and I'll add you.

I've been working these last few days coding fic and working on websites for [livejournal.com profile] neery and [livejournal.com profile] stillane. And I'm all sorts of pleased with the outcome. So head over and check out the newly updated killerstar.net (and then tell me if you notice anything amiss because I've looked at it so much it all blurs.)

I had a dream about fandom this morning right before I woke up, except it wasn't so much a dream as a brainstorm while I was sleeping. Mostly it involved a plan to create an archive for fan vidders. Sort of like youtube for fen. With dreamhost's super cheap hosting plans with 20gigs of space and a terabyte of bandwidth every month I think it's totally doable and I'd be willing to work on it, but uh, it'd be a huge project and I know thismuch about webdesign. But it's such a shame that so many vidders have to use temporary sites like yousendit to host their vids and it's be awesome for fandom to have a resource like an archive for them. So. If anyone else thinks it's a good idea and wants to help? I'd be all for it.

Lastly, I'm going to upgrade from 10.3.9 to 10.4 in a little bit. My computer's been crashing applications left and right and making these horrid, horrid whirring noises like my hard drive is attempting to launch into space when I have more that 3 applications open so I'm hoping the clean install will help. With my ridiculous computer history though (2 fracked hard drives in 7 months! yay apple!) wish me luck.

eta [livejournal.com profile] anitac588 reminded me and I had meant to mention this: I'm going to be reccing Stargate SG-1 and SGA fic on Mondays for the rest of the month over at [livejournal.com profile] sg_recs. It's a new community and it looks really promising and you all should go add it to your friendspages because everyone needs a good recs community. Things to expect from me: SG-1, SGA, and crossover recs and media.

I saw Serenity on opening night. It was my third time since I was lucky enough to see it in previews twice. I posted about it when I first saw it because there was no way not to, but I figure maybe I should link to it now since so many of you have been able to see it and might have avoided reading about it when I first posted. SPOILERS, dude.

I can't remember who posted this, but someone on my flist put up the Sci Fi Channel's Making of Serenity special. I have it up for download if anyone's interested (please right click and save-as, feel free to link to this post not the file)

I keep forgetting to post about this but I met Neil Gaiman on the 28th of September. He was doing a book signing at a place called Books Passage and he was so lovely and gracious. He signed everyone's books, no matter how many they had for him and I was near the end of the line but he didn't seem unhappy or tired or anything. I on the other hand was completely flustered. I'm not sure how I got through saying hello to the man, let alone talking about how much I adore him. One of my friends works at the store and had hooked me up with an advanced readers copy which I had Neil sign. I swear to god I want to wrap the think in plastic and put it in a safety deposit box now. It's actually a numbered galley (324 of 450) AND signed. Very rare indeed. Some authors won't sign galleys at all because of the ebay potential, but I asked for it to be personalised and he didn't seem to mind. Can I just say that I love him? Because I do. A lot.

Michael Chabon was at the signing leading the discussion, he got out pretty quick when it broke up for the book signing or else I probably would have had the chance to embarrass myself in front of not one but two of my favorite authors that night. If Kurt Vonnegut and Johnathan Lethem had been there I probably would have suffered some sort of brain explosion. Can I please marry a brilliant author now?

Lastly, a plea for help from an email from my sister:
Do you know a good fan site for Lost where there are intelligent people?
I've pretty much avoided the Lost websites myself, but I'm hoping you all are more knowledgeable. Anyone have any recommendations?

I'm supposed to rec popslash for [livejournal.com profile] crack_van in September but I completely forgot! A lof of stories I would have recced have already been recced before so I need help.

What are your top 5 favorite popslash stories?

What stories do you go back and re-read?

What authors do you love who are totally underrated?

(nsync or bsb I don't care, any pairing you want)

eta also I once read a story about JC that had him throwing a hurricane party and time like, stopped or something. That's all I can remember. Anyone recognize it? found! it's [livejournal.com profile] giddygeek's 8:88
